Haryana is a North Indian state which is around 3 km from New Delhi. Yamuna river runs along Uttar Pradesh on its eastern boundary. Shared with Punjab, the state capital, Chandigarh is known for modern architects and the Gridlike Street Plan, which is designed by Swiss architect, Le Corbusier. Zakir Hussain Rose Garden has 1,600 species, while its Rock Garden has sculptures made with recycled material.

History
Haryana is a state of India. During the British Raj period it was administered as a part of the province of Punjab. It became a separate administrative unit in 1966. It was in this area that the first hymns of the Aryans were sung and the oldest manuscripts were written. Urban settlements in Ghaggar valley from 3000 BC. From about 1500 BC, the Aryan tribe became the first of many groups to invade the area. This region was the home of the legendary Bharata dynasty, who gave India its Hindi name to India. The epic battle between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, recorded in the Mahabharata, happened in Kurukshetra. In the third century BC, the region was included in the Mauryan Empire. It later became an important power base for the Mughals; The Battle of Panipat in 1526 established the Mughal rule in India.
