Udaipur Best Attractions

Located in the southernmost region of Rajasthan, Udaipur has been the true essence of India's heritage. Famous as the City of Lakes, Udaipur has redefined the usual definitions of a heritage city. So much so, that the city is crowned as one of the most romantic places in the world. The city has a lot to boast about, from the iconic palaces of the Rajput era, the period hotels to the sparkling waters of their beautiful lakes.

Often called "the Venice of the East", Udaipur is a hot spot for tourists from all over the world.

The history of Udaipur goes back to the time of the sixteenth century, when it was a fertile valley along the Banas River. It was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II and was the first capital of the kingdom of Mewar.

The beautiful city of Udaipur has to do with palaces and lakes. Established on the shores of Lake Pichola is a series of royal palaces. The most prominent among them is the Palace of the City of the vintage. This palace has been the real deal for foreigners traveling in the region. From the balcony of the City Palace, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Jag Niwas, which is a world-class first-class hotel. From the entrance, the City Palace leads to a series of patios, terraces, corridors and gardens. The Mor Chowk, Sheesh Mahal, Moti Mahal and Krishna Vilas are quite remarkable in the Palace facilities.

Other attractions in Udaipur include the famous Jag Mandir. This palace is built on an island on Lake Pichola. With the construction accredited to the three Maharanas of Sisodia Rajputs, the Jag Mandir comprises an impressive series of structures. These structures are called Gul Mahal, Bara Patharon ka Mahal and Zenana Mahal.
